The nectar of these traditional chants is not in the meaning of them but in the vibration of repeating them either out loud or quietly internally. The chants themselves are ancient and the very vibration of them has been used for centuries to heal the soul.

''Chanting is the heart practice of Yoga. When we are in love, our hearts are constantly calling out the name of our lover. Chanting is that calling.'' -Krishna Das

Om is the voice of silence. If there was ever a first sound it is believed that OM was that sound. Om is the home of the entire existence and is the seed and essence of all. It represents - manifestation, growth, perfection and completion. At THE INTUITIVE Room Om starts and ends most sessions.

"Om is the imperishable word.

Om is the Universe.

The past, the present and the future,

All that was, all that is, all that will be, is Om.

Likewise, all else that may exist beyond the bounds of time,
that too is Om". Upanishads

saha navavatu sahanau bhunaktu

saha viryam karavavahai

tejasvi navadhitamastu ma vidvisavahai

om Shaantih Shaantih Shaantih

May we be protected together.
May we be nourished together.
May we work in harmony.
May our studies equally illuminate each other.
May we part with mutual respect for each other.

Peace, peace, perfect peace.

Ashtanga yoga opening chant

Vande Gurunam Charanaravinde

Sandarshita Svatma Sukava Bodhe

Nih Sreyase Jangalikayamane

Samsara Halahala Mohashantyai

Abahu Purushakaram

Shankhacakrsi Dharinam

Sahasra Sirasam Svetam

Pranamami Patanjalim

I bow to the lotus feet of the Supreme Guru
which awaken insight into the happiness of pure Being,
which are the refuge, the jungle physician,
which eliminate the delusion caused by the poisonous herb of Samsara (conditioned existence).

I prostrate before the sage Patanjali
who has thousands of radiant, white heads (as the divine serpent, Ananta)
and who has, as far as his arms, assumed the form of a man
holding a conch shell (divine sound), a wheel (discus of light or infinite time) and a sword (discrimination).

Astanga yoga closing mangalam

svastiprajabhyah paripalayantam

nyayena margena mahim mahishah

gobrahmanebhyah subhamastu nityam

lokasamasta sukhinobhavantu

om Shaantih Shaantih Shaantih

May the rulers of the earth keep to the path of virtue
For protecting the welfare of all generations.
May all people be forever blessed,
May all beings everywhere be happy and free
Om peace, peace, perfect peace
